Mosaic
Since 2005, Dot to Dot has worked with over 2,500 people to create over 30 square metres of externally sited mosaic.
The first, the Somerstown Mosaic, is installed in a site previously subject to graffiti. It remains undamaged on the formerly un-named walk through which is now officially called ‘Mosaic Lane’. This project enabled Dot to Dot to work with experienced and talented mosaic artists, and offer training to other local artists who are now leading mosaic projects for Dot to Dot.
“Real serendipity – to discover a beautiful piece of artwork in an unexpected place – it’s delightful.”

Mosaic is hard-wearing and almost maintenance free. Individual sections can be produced off-site over several weeks or months by a range of groups before being brought together and grouted in aluminium trays. This then allows the finished work to be installed on site very quickly, suddenly transforming the area. Traditionally used to decorate buildings, a mosaic can form a wonderful focal point for new or refurbished developments.
“The Springwood Centre Mosaic transformed the building and brought the whole community together.
I would have no hesitation working with Dot to Dot again
as they are a truly professional organisation, with a real interest
in local community values.”
Community Investment Manger, Guinness Hermitage 2006.
